A brackish marsh where green dragons guard the sunken Temple of Atal’Hakkar and the Horde holds Stonard.
The Swamp of Sorrows is a stagnant fen of weeping trees and brackish water in the south of the Eastern Kingdoms, close to where the Dark Portal first opened. The Horde has made the most of its distance from Stormwind: the orc town of Stonard is its stronghold here. Crocolisks, bog beasts and a band of draenei exiles share the murk.
At the swamp’s heart lies the Temple of Atal’Hakkar, the sunken shrine where Atal’ai priests once tried to summon their blood god Hakkar. The green dragons of the Aspect Ysera guard it now, warning that a terror still stirs within.
