The sun-scorched city of the Sandfury trolls in Tanaris, where a hydra god sleeps in a sacred pool.
Tanaris was once jungle, part of the Gurubashi trolls' lands, and Zul'Farrak was one of their cities. When the Great Sundering turned the region to desert, the Farraki trolls left there adapted and became sand trolls. Today the city belongs to the Sandfury tribe, feared for its cruelty and its dark magic.
Adventurers come for many reasons. Rumour places both halves of the broken troll sword Sul'thraze the Lasher inside its walls, a band of mercenaries on the run from Gadgetzan blundered in and was taken captive, and in a sacred pool at the city's heart sleeps Gahz'rilla, a hydra the Sandfury worship as a demigod and wake only when they have sacrifices to offer.
