The burning ruin of Lordaeron's great northern city, split between Baron Rivendare's Scourge and the Scarlet Crusade.
Stratholme was the proudest city of northern Lordaeron and the birthplace of the Order of the Silver Hand. In the Third War, Prince Arthas put it to the sword rather than let its plague-touched people rise as undead, breaking with his mentor Uther. The Scourge moved in soon after, and the city has burned ever since.
Today two enemies divide it. The Scarlet Crusade holds one side under Grand Crusader Dathrohan, never guessing that he is the dreadlord Balnazzar in disguise. The other side belongs to the Scourge and the death knight Baron Rivendare, a rich Stratholme landowner and friend of Kel'Thuzad before he joined the Cult of the Damned.
