A sea of dunes ruled from Gadgetzan, hiding the Caverns of Time and the troll city of Zul’Farrak.
Tanaris is an endless desert of dunes and sandstorms in southeastern Kalimdor. The goblins of the Steamwheedle Cartel run it from Gadgetzan and Steamwheedle Port, keeping a fragile neutrality while Wastewander bandits, Southsea pirates and Dunemaul ogres prey on travellers.
The desert hides older powers. In the Caverns of Time, Nozdormu’s bronze dragonflight watches over the flow of history; far to the south lie the titan ruins of Uldum; and the sand trolls of Zul’Farrak guard their walled city in the northwest. In Forever, a ship from Steamwheedle Port links the desert to Powderfuse Port in the Riverglades.
