Ashenvale

Ashenvale is the ancestral forest of the night elves, a deep wood of violet shade and ancient trees stretching from the Zoram Strand to the borders of the Barrens. The kaldorei hold Astranaar and a string of outposts, and the Sentinels guard their groves fiercely.

During the Third War, Grom Hellscream’s Warsong orcs cut into these woods, drank demon blood once more and slew the demigod Cenarius; Grom later died killing the pit lord Mannoroth at the place now called Demon Fall Canyon. The orcs still log the east from Splintertree Post and the Warsong camps, and the old quarrel smoulders. Satyrs haunt the ruins, and on the coast lies Blackfathom Deeps, a drowned temple of Elune.
