A vast savanna at the heart of Kalimdor, crossed by the Gold Road and held mostly by the Horde.
The Barrens are a sweeping savanna of thorn trees, oases and dry riverbeds at the heart of Kalimdor. Night elf cities stood here before the Great Sundering; now the Horde holds the land from the Crossroads and Camp Taurajo, the goblins of Ratchet trade by sea with Booty Bay, and Alliance soldiers watch from Northwatch Hold. In Forever, Durotar Supply and Logistics trades from a camp west of the Crossroads.
Kolkar centaur, quilboar and harpies raid travellers along the Gold Road. Below ground lie three old wounds: the Wailing Caverns, where a druid’s dream turned into a nightmare, and the thorny warrens of Razorfen Kraul and Razorfen Downs, sacred to the quilboar.
