Chapter 24 of 24 · After Classic
Later expansions (not part of Forever)
1 min read
In the original timeline the story went on through Outland, Northrend and beyond; Forever stays in year 25 and tells its own.
In World of Warcraft's original timeline, the story kept moving. The Dark Portal reopened, and The Burning Crusade carried adventurers to Outland, where Illidan and Kael'thas Sunstrider fell. In Wrath of the Lich King, Alliance and Horde marched on Northrend, and Arthas was defeated atop Icecrown Citadel. In Cataclysm, Deathwing burst from the depths and broke the face of the world before the Aspects and their mortal allies struck him down.
Later expansions carried the saga to Pandaria, an alternate Draenor, the Burning Legion's final defeat at Argus, open war between the factions, the realms of the dead, the Dragon Isles and the long struggle around Azeroth's own world-soul. Many places in this guide changed beyond recognition along the way.
World of Warcraft: Forever takes none of these roads. It stays in year 25, in a 'time bubble' outside retail continuity, and builds its future on the foundations of the original world. Blizzard's roadmap promises new raids, dungeons, quests and a revamped iconic raid in 2027, so the next chapters of this story will be Forever's own.
