The lake of raw arcane power at the heart of ancient Kalimdor, whose implosion sundered the world.

The Well formed where the titans tore Y'Shaarj from the world, and the keepers calmed the bleeding wound into a lake of pure power. The night elves built their empire on its shores, and the reckless spells of the Highborne drew the Legion through it. Its collapse in the War of the Ancients caused the Great Sundering, and the Maelstrom churns where it once lay.
